The monsoon rain is of two types;south west monsoon and north east monsoon.
Generally, South west monsoon starts from first week of June in Kerala and gradually starts moving towards north. Northern plains receives rain in the month of July due to South West Monsoon whereas north east monsoon starts from the month of October and pours the shower in Tamil Nadu, Andhra and some other states.
Most of the times, the winter rain is due to Western Cyclonic Disturbance.
