In our locality, flooding is a recurrent affair. Going to school is fun during the period of waterlogging. Bare-footed, the children enjoy wading through knee-deep water, with their shoes kept wrapped in polythene and shoved into the school bags. The most enjoyable moments occur when on an otherwise sunny day, a shower suddenly comes on the way to school or on the way back; while older people pull out their umbrellas or run for cover under some form of shelter, the children merrily enjoy getting wet.
