Step-by-step explanation:

Given The monthly income of amit and atul are in ratio 6:5.the ratio of their expenditure is 5:4.if each of them solves Rs.2500 per month, find monthly income

1)use variable x to write their monthly incomes

2)use variable y to write their monthly expenditure

3)form simultaneous equation and solve

  • Let the income of Amit and Atul be 6x and 5x respectively. Expenditure of Amit and Atul be 5x and 4y respectively.
  • According to question each of them save 2500 each:
  • 6x – 5y = 2500  multiply by 5
  • 5x – 4y = 2500 multiply by 6
  • 30 x – 25 y = 12,500
  • 30 x – 24 y = 15,000
  • So y = 2,500
  • 6x – 5(2500) = 2500
  • 6x – 12,500 = 2,500
  • 6x = 15,000
  • Or x = 2,500
  • So 6x = 6(2,500) = 15,000
  • 5y = 5(2,500) = 12,500

Income of Amit is Rs 15,000 and income of Atul is Rs 12,500
