let's consider the salary of A is x rupees

then salary of B is (40000-x) Rupees.

now

A spends 85% of his salary

then A's saving is-

[x-{x×(85/100)}

={x-(4x/5)}

=x/5--------------(1)

and

B spends 85% of his salary

then B's saving is-

[(40000-x)-{(40000-x)×95/100}]------------(2)

now..

according to the question

1=2------------------ (3)

just solve equation no 3..
