Answer:

distance of moon

from earth (R) =3.84 X 10^8 m

angle substande by the moon (θ) =1°34"

=3600" + 34" (as 1° = 3600")

=3634" X 4.84 X 10^-6

(as 1"=4.84X10^-4 rad)

=1.75 X 10^-2 rad

l = ?

now, we know that,

θ =  \frac{l}{R}

=> l = Rθ

=> l = (1.75 X 10^-2 ) X (3.84 X 10^8)

=> l = 6.72 X 10^6 m

hence, the distance of earth from moon is 6.72 X 10^6 m.

Solution:

Angle subtended

theta = 1° 54' = 114' = 114 × 2.19 × 10^-4 rad

= 3.317 × 10^-2 rad

Diameter of earth= theta × distance to the moon from the earth

= 3.317 ×10^-2 × 3.84×10^8 m

= 1.274× 10^7 m
