The moon is observed from two diametrically extremes A and B on earth. The angle of parallax
is found to be 1° 54'. If the diameter of the earth is about 1.276 10' m, estimate the distance
of the moon from the earth,

Draw the line AB in the centre of the Earth to understand the following figure...I mistakenly draw the line quite above the centre point...

The calculation is undoubtedly correct, hope you would be satisfied by my answer.... Thank you

Explanation:

We have angle of parallax= 1°54' =60'+54'=114'(1°=60')

=(114×60)" × (4.85×10^-6) radian

=3.32×10^-2 radian

1"=4.85×10^-6 radian

Also b=1.267×10^7m

D=b/parallax angle

=1.267×10^7/3.32×10^-2

=3.84×10^8m

I hope it's maybe helpful to you.
