Given - Wavelength in micro meter - 2 - 15

Find - Wavelength in angstrom and wave number.

Solution - For conversion of micro meter to angstrom, the unit is compared as follows -

1 micro meter = 10,000 Angstrom.

Hence, 2 micro meter will be - 10,000*2

2 micro meter will be - 20,000 Angstrom = 2*10⁴ Angstrom

Therefore, 15 micro meter will be - 15*10,000

15 micro meter will be - 1,50,000 Angstrom = 1.5*10⁵ Angstrom.

Wave number is given by the formula - 2π/lambda.

In the formula, lambda refers to wavelength in metres.

Wave number for 2 micro meter wavelength - 2π/2*10-⁶

Wave number for 2 micro meter wavelength - 3.14*10⁶

Wave number for 15 micro meter wavelength - 2π/1.5*10-⁵

Wave number for 15 micro meter wavelength - 4.1*10⁵

Hence, wavelengths in angstrom will be - 2*10⁴ and 1.5*10⁵.

Wave number will be - 3.14*10⁶ and 4.1*10⁵.
