okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkko
Answer:
Policy cut motion: Demand being reduced to Re. 1 so that it only represents the disapproval of the policy that underlies the demand. By doing this the member is free to propose an alternative policy as well.
Economy cut motion: It raises an issue of reduction of demand in grants by a specified amount which can either be a lump sum or an omission in the demand itself.
Token cut motion: It addresses a specific grievance that lies within the purview of responsibilities of the GoI and which reduces the demand by Rs. 100.
It should be noted that a ‘cut motion’ is not unconditional for, it should focus on a single demand which is stated clearly and distinctly without the use of any false or defamatory statement. A cut motion cannot make an appeal for the amendment of existing law and should only concern the matters falling within the limitations of the Union Government. Reasonably because the ‘cut motion’ is related to the Union Budget and it is a Central or Union subject.
A ‘cut motion’ of any of the above type cannot take up the issue of ‘charged expenditure’ on the Consolidated Fund of India. It can only refer to the ‘expenditure made’ on the Consolidated Fund of India.
The most important significance of a cut motion could be that it can result in the resignation of members of the Lok Sabha. Only if passed by the Parliament for, it raises speculation on the confidence of the Lok sabha. Hence, seldom does the Lok Sabha has any inclination of passing a ‘cut motion’.
