The mountain rage on the western boundary of the Indian Sub continent is called the Hindu Kush.

The Hindu Kush is an 800 km long mountain range which stretches across the Afghanistan Pakistan border.

It divides the valley of the Amu Darya in the north from the Indus River valley to the south.

The Indian subcontinent is enclosed by the Hindukush mountain range at its western side.

The Hindu Kush is a major Central Asia's great watersheds, forming a major region across the huge Alpine zone extending across east towards west across Eurasia. It runs across northeast towards the southwest, dividing the valley of Amu Darya from the Indus valley flowing to the north.

The Hindu Kush faces the Pamir range to the east and it runs southwest through the regions of Pakistan and then heads towards Afghanistan, finally joining as smaller ranges in the western part of Afghanistan.
