1) The council elections were boycotted in most province except Madras.
2) The import of foreign clothes halved between 1921 and 1922.
3) Merchant and traders refused to trade in foreign goods or finance foreign trade.
4) People's wear only Indian clothes.
5) Teachers, lawyers and students left the government controlled schools
