It was the Santhal Movement or Santhal Rebellion of 1855 which was led by four brothers i.e Sidhu, Kanhu, Chand and Bhairav. They belonged to a tribal clan called Mammu. They were also aided by their two sisters Phulo and Jhano. The Santhal Rebellion was against colonial British authority as well as against the oppressive and corrupt zamindari system.
