The multi-party system often appears very messy and leads to political instability". This statement may be justified on account of following reasons:
It is often difficult to remember names of all the parties.
All the parties present different objectives and so create confusion among the people.
The government formed is through coalition, which in itself is unstable and may be the cause of breaking up of the government formed.

Multi party system
Explanation:
- In a multi party system multiple parties run for national elections and the winner gets to to control the government offices, if one of the parties get a clear majority of the votes then they can form coalition government. It is a common form of government in presidential and parliamentary systems and most common in the countries using proportional representation system.
- Two party systems are preferable to multi-party systems because they are easy to govern, there is greater harmony as minor parties are discouraged in this system. Multi party system leads to hung parliaments.
- Multi party system is better for big countries where proportional representation system is not feasible. A major disadvantage of multi party system is that sometimes the winner party can get to the office by a very small percentage of votes. Fringe parties can also easily field their candidates.
- It is difficult for the electors to choose among various parties. Instability of the government is also an issue.
