A relay race is a sport . It is usually a  running event where team members take turns completing aspects of the race or performing a certain activity

These sports are usually are professional races and amateur sports. Relay races are  not only in athletics but  in cycling, orienting, swimming, cross-country skiing, biathlon or ice skating and many other games. There are many types of relay competitions in the Olympics that are part of the athletics.

This sport was very popular and famous  In the United States, the New York firefighters were in charge of gaining them attention by charity  racing welfare in this manner. Relay races was popularity at the Stockholm Olympic Games in 1912, where the United States dominated and won the 4 x 400 meter relay and the women's relays were introduced at the Munich Olympic Games in 1972.

The track of relay is planned in such a way that  track consists of 6 to 8 tracks, each with a length of 400 meters and two parallel straight lines and two equal radii curves. The estimation of the contour of the track shall be taken up to 30 centimeters beyond just the inner edge of the same one. Every athlete has a lane of 122 cm to 125 cm and this lane is marked by a 5 cm high line.

Each relay team consist of 4 runners and the team members should have coordination between them.  

Each member of the team will run around 5 Kilometers  out and back legs of the relay  race.

The players  must run in the order of the numbers which are assigned to them. They  cannot deviate among themselves and cannot change the  order given to them If they decided themselves  the  team will be disqualified.

The player who Run's at the last  must have the bib with the tear off tag so when runner  touches  the final leg of the relay, the timer can take the tag at the finish line in order to get an official time.

It is compulsory that player  must carry the relay baton till the end of the game and runner must hold the baton until it is passed on to person of the team. If the players are not carrying baton till the end of the game they will be disqualified.
