Answer:

The required answer for the first black man in space is found to be: Arnaldo Tamayo Méndez.

Explanation:

Brigadier General Arnaldo Méndez, an African-Cuban, was the first dark-skinned astronaut in space. Arnaldo Méndez was born in Guantánamo, Cuba on 29 January, 1942.

In 1978, after a rigorous selection process, Tamayo Mendes was named the seventh astronaut in the Inter-cosmos program.

This program was designed to fly non-Soviet astronauts on the Soviet spacecraft Soyuz and Salyut. So in April 1978 he came to  the  Soviet Space Center, Swesdny Gorodok "Star Town", where he trained for two and a half years  for space travel.

Tamayo Mendes and Soviet astronaut Yuri Romanenko boarded the Soyuz 38, which departed on September 18, 1980.

They docked with the Salyut 6 space station. From Salyut 6,  two men and other crew members conducted 27 Soviet-Cuban joint experiments developed primarily by Cuban scientists. The mission lasted  20 hours and 43 minutes on the 7th.

This space travel had social, political and economic value beyond the  scientific knowledge gained. Soviet President Leonid  Brezhnev and Cuban President Fidel Castro have endorsed a joint mission to strengthen relations between the two countries.
