Akhil Bharatiya Gayatri Parivar has taken up a prestigious project to clean River Ganga to its entire length of 2525 km.
The Gayatri Parivar has already begun cleaning the river in patches all across the country but it feels this is not enough. The entire stretch has to be given a facelift — at one go if possible.
BJP decides to Campaign for Clean Ganga
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has now taken up the cause of preserving the river Ganga and announced a panel Friday led by its firebrand leader Uma Bharati.
The initiative will focus on restoring the cleanliness and continuity of the river which is held sacred by Hindus.
The saffron party passed a resolution, starting a campaign “Nirmal Ganga, Aviral Ganga” (clean Ganga, continuous Ganga). It also stresses on smaller run-of-the-river dams, which don’t obstruct the flow of the river.
