Hey Friend!!
The narrator noticed John. A pescud toss a book on the floor of the train .
This Reflex action by Mr. Pescud was triggered by the fact that he simply hated the plot of all famous romantic novels, which were mainly centred on two people belonging to different communities from faraway lands. Despite the difference in their classes, they would fall in love under miraculous circumstances. He beleived that the genres of all love stories were one and the same and they were far beyond reality... They were merely based on fantasy and it is unlikely that such stories should take place in the real world..
That explains why he threw away the book - "The rose lady and Trevelyan" on the floor of the train.
Hope that helps!!
