The natural products made up of one or more elements which are dug out from the earth and have a specific chemical composition are called minerals.

  • Minerals can be of two types- macro minerals and trace minerals.
  • Macro minerals are the ones which are required in greater amounts in our body. Examples- calcium, magnesium, sodium, etc.
  • Trace minerals are the ones required in lesser amounts. Examples- iodine, zinc, copper, etc.
  • Minerals are mostly taken in through food, however, supplements are also present.
