CO2 itself is not acidic. Its solution in water creates carbonic acidwhich dissociates in to a small extent to give H+ ions.

CO2 + H2O → H2CO3
H2CO3 → H+ + HCO3 -
thus by Arrhenius concept CO2 solution in water can act as acid
