True Dip, \delta  is given by \delta=38.6^{\circ} \approx 39^{\circ}

Explanation:

Given data in the question:

Apparent dip shown by dip circle needle,  \delta_{1}=45^{\circ}

Dip shown by dip circle needle when the circle is rotated, \delta_{2}=53^{\circ}

True Dip,\delta  is given by the

\cot ^{2} \delta=\cot ^{2} \delta_{1}+\cot ^{2} \delta_{2}

\cot ^{2} \delta=\cot ^{2} 45^{\circ}+\cot ^{2} 53^{\circ}

\cot ^{2} \delta=1.56

      \delta=38.6^{\circ} \approx 39^{\circ}
