The negative square root of a number increased by 2 is equal to the number. Find the number.

  • Let the number be= A .
  • Therefore √A + 2= A. So A-2= √A
  • Squaring on both sides we get
  • A^2–4A+4= A .
  • So A^2–5A+ 4=0 ;
  • factorising we get, (A-4) (A-1)= 0.
  • So A= 4 or 1
  • Neglecting the negative number the number is = 4
