Here's the answer you are looking for

If you see a neutral atom, it has the same number of protons as the number of electrons, so the net charge over the electrons is equally distributed.

But if you see a positively charged Ion it has more number of protons than electrons, so the net Z effective or the net positive charge over electrons increases and hence the shells are attracted more towards nucleus which makes the atom smaller than the neutral won.

Therefore, the positively charged Ion has less atomic radius as compared to the neutral atom or the parent atom.
