Teachers’ Day was celebrated on Friday, 5th September in school with great fervour. The Members of the Student Council, who had been preparing for the grand day for more than a week, organised a great show dedicated to their teachers. The day buzzed with excitement and smiles all around. Abhiluv and Ahana of Class 8 commenced the assembly by bringing everyone’s attention to the immense importance of teachers and the role they play in children’s lives. Aditya, Keshav and Daksh of Class 6 recited a shloka. Thereafter it was fun and frolic starting with a humorous activity ‘Teach our Teachers’ which had the students in splits of laughter as teachers tried to answer the ‘tough’ questions asked by the students. Class 3 students enacted a skit by Guru Rabindra Nath Tagore – The Rats’ Feast which told the story of how a teacher won true respect of his students. Music engulfed everyone with a graceful dance performance by the girls of Class 6 and 7. Grade 5 Students recited a poem, ‘Guru Aur Chela’ and, last but not the least, our boy band ‘Day Dream’ performed to entertain all. The teachers of the pre-primary wing played a paper dance for their little ones to enjoy. The students applauded them as they were surprised by their great sportsmanship and gymnastic skills! Of course, Teachers’ Day will never be complete without the students mimicking their teachers. All in good humour, a few teachers like Bijo Sir, Neeta Ma’am, Pooja Ma’am, Anuradha Ma’am and Anjali Ma’am’s quirky styles of teaching were re-enacted for everyone to enjoy! All the programs were enjoyed by the teachers. A wonderful video, made by Abhiluv of Class 8, showing a collage of teachers in their different roles and duties on the school campus was an endearing gesture and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Lastly and most importantly, Monica Ma’am shared a few words of encouragement for the students who had worked for days behind the scenes to organise the event and the assembly concluded with a song sung by students of Grade 6. It was truly a proud day for the teachers to bask in the love and attention they received from their students!
