The next body that we get after death is determined by our Karmas in the present birth. If we have done enough good deeds, we will surely get a good body. For example if we have respected life, done our duties conscientiously and never have hurt any human being, animal, or a plant, we will surely be given another human body to evolve into an angel.

However, if we have done evil Karmas, God will surely relegate us to animal species.
