The next term of the following series is GAT, IER, KJP, MPN, OWL, ? is QEJ

Solution:

Let the missing term be ‘x’

GAT, IER, KJP, MPN, OWL, x

If we look at the alphabets we can easily find a pattern.

The first letter of the given terms is G, I, K, M and O. Which are alternate letters on the alphabetical order. By this we can find the first letter of the missing term which will be Q.

The 2nd alphabets of the given terms are A, E, J, P, W. When observed closely we notice that they have are letters of the alphabetical order with an increasing difference between the consecutive letters.

For example A to E there are 3 letters in between, E to J there are 4 alphabets in between and so on.

So by logic the 2nd alphabet of the missing term is the 6th letter from W, which is E.

Similarly, we find the third alphabet of the missing term. Which follows the same pattern as that of the 1st missing alphabet but in the backward fashion. Therefore our missing letter is J.

So when we put together all the letters of the missing term we get QEJ.  Hence Option C is correct
