Answer :

• 48 students are the strength of class .

Given :

• Ratio of boys and girls = 7:5

• No. of boys is 8 more than girls

To Find :

• Total strength of class

Solution :

• Let the unknown entity to be x , now number of boys will be 7x and number of girls will be 5x .

According To The Question :

\implies \sf 7x\:=\:5x\:+\:8 \\

\implies \sf 7x\:-\:5x\:=\:8 \\

\implies \sf 2x\:=\:8 \\

\implies \sf x\:=\: \dfrac{8}{2} \\

\implies \sf x\:=\:4 \\

• Therefore , no. of boys = 7x = 7(4) = 28

and no. of girls = 5(4) = 20

Total strength = 28 + 20 = 48

Verification :

No . of boys = 8 more than no. of girls

→ 7(4) = 5(4) + 8

→ 28 = 20 + 8

→ 28 = 28

• Since , LHS is equal to RHS , result is correct .
