Given :- The nth term of a sequence -5,-10,-15,-20,… is :-

A) -50

B) -5n-5

C) -5n

D) -5n+5

Solution :-

we know that,

  • nth term of an AP = a + (n - 1)d where a is first term and d is common difference .
  • d = a2 - a1

so,

→ first term of given AP = a = (-5)

and,

→ common difference = d = (-10) - (-5) = (-10) + 5 = (-5)

then,

→ Tn = a + (n - 1)d

→ Tn = (-5) + (n - 1)(-5)

→ Tn = (-5) - 5n + 5

→ Tn = (-5n) (C) (Ans.)

Hence, nth term of given AP is (-5n) .
