The nth term of an arithmetic series is 2-3n then find its common differents

Answer:

nth term is 2-3n

& the (n-1)th term will be 2-3(n-1)

= 2 - 3n +3

= 5 -3n

the common difference = nth term - (n-1)th term

by this we will get 2-3n - (5-3n) = 2-3n-5+3n

= -3

Alternate Method

If we put n = 1

then the nth term will be 2-3(1) = 2-3 = -1

& if we put n = 2

then the nth term will be 2-3(2) = 2-6 = -4

The common difference = -4 - (-1)

= -4 +1 = -3
