The nucleus of a helium atom travels along the axis of a straight hollow tube 4m long. The tube is part of a particle acceleration. If the particle enters the
tube with a speed of 1000 m/s and leaves at 9000 m/s and assuming that the acceleration is uniform, the time the particle remains inside the tube is

Answer:

166666.67m/s²

Explanation:

the nucleus is accelerated for a distance of 4m

=> s = 4m = 4×60 = 240s

the particle enters the tube with a speed of 1000m/s and leaves at 9000m/s

=> v = 9000m/s, u = 1000m/s

we know that v²-u² = 2as

=> 9000²-1000² = 2a×240

=> 81000000-1000000 = 480a

=> 480a = 80000000

=> a = 500000/3 = 166666.67m/s²
