 here \: is \: your \: ANSWER \: friend \:

The working of potentiometer is based on the fact that the fall of potential across any portion of the wire is diectly proportional to the length of that portion provided the wire is of uniform area of cross-section and a constant current is flowing through it. to shift the balance point on higher length, the potential gradient of the wire is to be decreased. the same can be obtained by decreasing the current of the main circuit, which is possible by increasinig the resistance in series of potentiometer wire.

The null point potentiometer wire will shift beyond the potentiometer wire is auxillary battery with a high emf.

Explanation:

  • The potentiometer's balancing point is called  the null point, is the point on the slide wire where its galvanometer displays no movement.
  • To determine the unknown voltage of the cell connected to the cell, the equilibrium point is found.
  • The potential gradient along the potentiometer wire will increase as the current through the wire is increased.
  • As a result, the zero deflection position will occur at a shorter length.
