Answer:

Let A’s share be x.

Then B’s share will be (100 - x)

According to the question -:

Twice of A’s share, that is 2x

Is less than, that is (- 2x)

3 times B’s share that is 3(100 - x)

Is 200.

Now, let us write the equation as per the question. We know all the terms, right? Let us put them together.

3(100 - x) - 2x = 200

Now we know the equation, let us solve it. On solving the bracket, we will get - :

300 - 3x - 2x = 200

300 - 5x = 200

-5x = 200 - 300

-5x = - 100

Now, (-) and (-) gets cancelled, we get - :

x = 20

That is A’s share was 20 and that of B’s was 80

18) Let the share of A be x and share of B be y .

A/Q

x + y = 100

  • y = 100 - x ___(1)

Also , 3 times of B's share - 2 times of A's share = 200

  • 3y - 2x = 200 _____(2)

Substituting value of y from equation (1) in equation (2)

3 ( 100 - x) - 2x = 200

300 - 3x - 2x = 200

300 - 5x = 200

-5x = 200 - 300

- 5 x = - 100

x = -100 / -5

x = 20

Therefore ,

  • A's share = x = 20
  • B's share = y = 100 - 20 = 80

19) Let Garima's age be x.

Then Sudha' s age = 2x.

10 years ago ,

  • Garima's age = x -10
  • Sudha's age = 2x - 10

But A/Q

  • Sudha's age = 3 ( Garima's age)

2x - 10 = 3 ( x -10)

2x - 10 = 3x - 30

2x - 3x = -30 + 10

-x = -20

x = 20

Hence ,

  • Garima's age = x = 20 years
  • Sudha's age = 2x = 40 years
