Answer:-

Let the fraction be x/y.

Given:

The numerator is 3 more than the denominator.

⟶ x = y + 3 -- equation (1)

And,

If numerator & denominator are increased by 5 , the fraction becomes 10/7.

⟶ x + 5/y + 5 = 10/7

Substitute the value of x from equation (1)

⟶ (y + 3 + 5)/y + 5= 10/7

⟶ 7(y + 8) = 10(y + 5)

⟶ 7y + 56 = 10y + 50

⟶ 56 - 50 = 10y - 7y

⟶ 6 = 3y

⟶ 6/3 = y

⟶ 2 = y

Substitute the value y in equation (1).

⟶ x = 2 + 3

⟶ x = 5

The required fraction x/y is 5/2.
