Step-by-step explanation:

Bacteria at the end of 2nd hour = 30 X 2^2

Bacteria at the end of 4th hour = 30 X 2^4

Bacteria at the end of nth hour = 30 X 2^n

According to the question,

30, 60, 120, 240....

This is GP with a = 30 and r = 2

Bacteria present after 2 hours = a3

a3 = ar2 = 30 (2)2 = 120

a5 = ar4 = 30 (2)4 = 480

Baceria present after n hours = an + 1

an = arn + 1 - 1 = 30 (2n)
