Step-by-step explanation:

let number of boys in the class=7x

let number of girls in the clssd=5x

the number of boys is 8 more than the number of girls

7x=5x+8

2x=8

x=4

therefore number of boys in the class =7×4

=28

therefore number of girls in the clasd=5×4

=20

therefore 28+20=48

therefore total class strength=48

Answer:

the total strength of the class is 48. number of boys is 28 and girls is 20

EXPLANATION:

let x be boys and y be number f girls in the class

from first condition,

x/y=7/5

5x=7y

5x-7y=0 is first equation

from second condition,

x=8+y

x-y=8 is seccond equation

by multiplying equation 2 by 5

we get, 5x-5y=40 this is third equation

now subtract equation 1 from 3

we get x=28 and y=20

so, toal strength of class will be

x+y=28 + 20= 48
