So 7x:5x is the ratio

5x + 8 = 7x
7x-5x = 8
2x = 8
x = 8/2 = 4
Boys = 7 X 4 = 28
Girls = 5 X 4 = 20
Total class strength = Boys + Girls = 28+20 = 48

⇒ 7x – 5x = 8
