Given :-

The number of boys and girls in a class are in the ratio 7:5.

• The number of boys is 8 more than the number of boys and girls.

To Find :-

What is the total class strength?

Solution :-

Let the number of boys be 7x.

Then, the number of girls will be 5x.

According to the question :-

Given that,

The number of boys is 8 more than the number of boys and girls.

Hence,

7x -8 = 5x

⟼ 7x -5x = 8

⟼ 2x = 8

⟼x = 4

Hence,

Number of boys = 7x = 7 × 4 = 28

Numbers of girls = 5 × 4 = 20

★ Strength of class = Number of boys + Number of girls ★

⟼ Strength of class = 7x +5x

⟼Strength of class = 12 × x

⟼ Strength of class = 12 × 4

⟼ Strength of class = 48

Therefore, strength of class is = 48
