Hello!!!

Let the common ratio be x.

Then the ratio of number of boys:girls will be 7x:5x.

It is given that there are 8 boys more than the girls.

So now our equation would be:
7x=5x+8
7x-5x=8
2x=8
x=8/2
x=4

Now that we found the common ratio,we can easily find the number of boys and girls and we get the total number of students when we add the number of boys and girls.

So, 7x=7(4)=28 and 5x=5(4)=20.

The number of boys is 28 and girls is 20 and the total number of students is 28+20=48.

hope it helps.
