the number of boys and girls in a class arein the ratio 7:5.The number of boys is 8 more than the number of girls.what is the total stenth

no.of boys is 7x and no. of girls is 5x

8+7x=5x

ratio is 5:7
let X be the common multiple of this ratio
so girls are now 5x and boys are 7x
by given condition....
7x= 8+5X
so 7x-5x= 8
2x= 8
X= 8/2
X= 4
so no. of girls
= 5x
= 5*4
= 20
no. of boys
= 7x
=7*4
=28
for finding total strength
=20+28
=48
