Let the no. of girls be 5x
and the no. of boys=7x
no. of boys is 8 more then girls. so we can write no. of girls = 5x+8
According to the question
5x+8=7x
7x-5x=8
2x=8
x=8/2
x=4
No. of girls=5*4=20
no. of boys=7*4 or 5*4+8=28
therefore, the total strength of the class is 20+28= 48
