The number of boys are 8 more than the number of girls.

Let,

The number of girls are x

Boys are x+8

x+8 : x :: 7: 5

7(x) = 5(x+8)

7x = 5x + 40

7x - 5x = 40

2x = 40

x = 40/2

x = 20

Girls are 20.

Boys are 20+8 = 28

Boys are 28
