the number of electrons in nickel having m=0 will be?
the answer given is 13 out 14 considering there can be either 1 or 2 electrons in 3dz² orbital. I know that for dz² m=0. my question is why not just 2 electrons? same thing happens when we consider pz orbital i.e. either 1 or 2.. pls help.

in each sub energy level, one orbital is with m=0

Number of electrons of manganese (Z=25) with magnetic quantum number value 0 is 13.

The electronic configuration is as shown.

In 3d subshell, there is only one electron with m=0. In all the remaining subshells, each subshell has 2 electrons with m=0.

Hence, the correct option is D.
