chlorine has atomic number 17 it can fill it s electron number by 2 8 7 that means it need i more electron to complete its valency by 2 8 8

as chlorine will take a electron from other element it would gain a -1 charge and hwnce its valency would be 1

the element who recieve wlectron has - charge and which gave electron have + charge
