Here is your answer

______________________________

» In any atom the atomic number is equal to the number of protons and number of electron .

So,

Atomic number (Z) = Number of protons = Never of electron.

Exception :-

In in the situation of ions this case is not valied ( i.e., in cation and anion)

A. T. Q:-

Na+ is a cation which means it donates it's electron .

Now atomic number of sodium =11

So it contains 11 electron but it donates 1 electron.

So, Na+ have 10 electrons
