The number of flowers in a garden was 14000. The flowers started falling down at the rate of 5% per day. What
was the population of flowers on the flower plants after 2 days?

ANSWER :

12635 flowers were left on the second day

EXPLANATION :

First day, no. of flowers that fell,

= 5% of 14000

= 5/100 × 14000

= 700

So 700 flowers fell on the first day

Now total flowers left = 14000 - 700

= 13300

Second day, no. of flowers that fell,

= 5% of 13300

= 665

665 flowers fell on the second day

Population of flowers on second day,

= 13300 - 665

= 12635

12635 flowers were left on the second day
