Total number of students in the school is 2210 and the number of boys in the school is 1430.

  • The number of girls and boys in the hostel is in the ratio 6:11.
  • Let the common multiple be x.
  • Therefore the number of girls and boys is 6x and 11x respectively.
  • The number of girls in the school is 780.
  • Therefore,

780 = 6x

x = 130

  • Now the number of boys in the school is 11x = 11×130 = 1430.

Total number of students in the school = number of girls + number of boys

  • Total number of students = 780 + 1430 = 2210.
