The number of heterotrophs found in desert region is smaller. How ever , they are found in greater number in the sea . Why is this so

It is because the heterotrophs can predate/parasite on the smaller Marine life. While in deserts you'll hardly find animals there.

You can't generalise it, but since you asked that question so, that's what I think
