the number of nearest neighbours of each atom in c. c. p. structure is. 12 actually. cubic close packed structure i.e.c.c.p.i.e.face centred cubic structure i. e. f. c. c.. no. touching atoms in its plane is 4 .,,,, and 4 atoms at the center of adjacent faces of its own cell and 4 atoms at the centre of adjacent faces of neighbouring cell. .thus total no. of nearest neighbouring atoms surrounding given atom in lattice is 4+4+4=12
