Gɪᴠᴇɴ :-

  • The number of pages in a book in is increased from 362 to 540 .
  • the price is also increased in the same ratio.
  • the old price was ₹270.

Tᴏ Fɪɴᴅ :-

  • what will the new price be ?

ᴄᴏɴᴄᴇᴘᴛ ᴜsᴇᴅ :-

when a : b :: c : d Than,

⇒ Product of extremes = Product of means

⇒ a x d = b x c

Sᴏʟᴜᴛɪᴏɴ :-

Let New Price is Rs.X

Than,

→ 362 : 540 :: 270 : X .

→ Product of extremes = Product of means .

→ 362 * X = 540 * 270

→ X = (540 * 270) / 362

→ X ≈ Rs.402.76 (Ans.)

Hence, New Price will be Rs.402.76.

Given Question:[Ratio&Proportion]

The number of pages in a book in is increased from 362 to 540 and the price is increased in the same ratio.If the old price was ₹270 what will the new price be?

To Find :

New price

Solution :

________________________________

First method :-

According to the question,

Let the new price of book be x. Then

362:540 :: 270: x

As we know, product of extremes = product of means, therefore

362×x = 270 ×540

x = 270×540/362

x = 402. 76 rupees

________________________________

Second method :-

( Price increased in same ratio)

Cost for 362 pages of book= Rs.270

Cost for each page of book= Rs. 270/360

Then,

Cost of 540 pages of book = Rs.(540×270)÷360

Cost of 540 pages of book = Rs.402.76

________________________________

Therefore, the new price of book is 402.76 rupees.
