To find:

Number of sp²-sp² sigma bonds?

Calculation:

First of all, whenever a carbon-carbon bond is a :

  • single bond, carbon is sp³ hybridised.

  • double bond, carbon is sp² hybridised.

  • triple bond, carbon is sp hybridised.

Now, see the attached diagram to see the sp² hybridised carbon.

So , the total number of sigma bonds (marked in tick marks) comes as:

3 \:  \sigma \: bonds
