The number of trophic levels are limited because the energy that is being transferred from one trophic level to the next is very low.
This phenomenon is known as 10% law where only 10% of the energy is transferred to the next level
If the number of trophic levels are more there wont be enough energy available for the trophic levels at the end.
So,there are only limited number of trophic levels.
