order. If median=5, then find x. Hence, find mode.

Given data :

2,3,4,2x+1,5,5,6,7

Number of terms (n) = 8[even]

Median = average of (n/2, n/2 +1) th term s

= average of 4th and 5th terms

= (2x+1+5)/2

= (2x+6)/2

= [2(x+3)]/2

= x+3 ---(1)

median = 5 ---(2) [ given ]

Now

(1) = (2)

=> x+3 = 5

=> x = 5-3

=> x = 2

Therefore,

x = 2

ii ) Now, data becomes,

2,3,4,(2×2+1),5,5,6,7

= 2,3,4,5,5,5,6,7

Mode = More often occurred observation in the data

= 5
